Fashion that is terrifying
Miss world, Miss Universe… what beauty contests are not invented by their organizers in search of the most beautiful woman in the world! For us, the inhabitants of the civilized world, the canons of beauty and fashion trends seem so obvious that when we see the first beauty of a wild tribe, detached from this very civilization, we can laugh, be surprised, or even fall into absolute stupor. Sometimes fashion and beauty are so tightly bound for us that it is difficult to accept with our minds and hearts that in some corner of the world the concept of female attractiveness differs significantly from ours.
fashion that terrifies from people to people, from race to race, there are different understandings and ideals of beauty and fashion. Although it is more appropriate to talk about beauty than about fashion. It is very doubtful that the Maori, for example, even know what fashion, trend, model appearance, style, etc. is.
So, what are they, these same ideals of beauty of the inhabitants of even one planet, but sometimes seem unearthly, alien and incomprehensible?
Beauty in diversity
Somewhere on the border of Thailand and Burma live the so-called “red Karen”. The main ideal of a woman for them is a woman with a long neck. Not just long, but ugly long for us-Europeans! From an early age, the girls of this tribe wear rings around their necks, and from year to year the number of rings on their necks is added, as if stretching their necks. For them, this is a kind of fashion that everyone follows-both old and young. It is worth noting that fashion is dangerous: if a woman with such “decoration” only removes all the rings from her neck, instant death occurs… Yes, apparently, the canons of our society are really more civilized.
Another tribe, the Maasai, is also extremely original and imaginative. If in the first case, the fashion is neck length, then here-ear length. No, you read it right! Since childhood, girls are lengthened as much as possible by earlobes, sometimes the holes in the ears can be the diameter of a real telescope! And if a long earlobe with a huge hole is the norm for every woman of this tribe, then the real “peak of fashion” is the absence of two front teeth and as much as possible shaved skull. Yes! In the art of piercing Masai tribe clearly has no equal!
Legends about Amazons also seem to be not entirely justified-the fashion for piercings and war paint sometimes brings their appearance to ugliness. And if we mention the fact that the blood of dead animals is used as a paint for this “body art”, it seems that our fashion for beauty is not just civilized, but also extremely humane.
The natives of New Zealand, namely the Maori, went further. In a kind of fashion, they approached the modern world with their love of tattoos. Moreover, the tattoo must be on the woman’s chin and lips. The darker and brighter this tattoo is, the more attractive the “female ” is considered. Such a tattoo called “Moko” for Polynesian beauties is a whole telling story. A certain drawing will tell you about the origin of the girl, and about her marital status. But it is very convenient – there is no need to ask the girl you like whether she is married. The original drawing on the chin and lips will tell you everything!
Mauritania, unlike all the previously listed peoples and tribes, pays close attention not to the face, but to the figure. The whole world is losing weight convulsively, trying to bring itself to an anorexic state, and Moorish women … are ready to give everything just to weigh more. From the age of 5, girls of this people begin to be fattened “for slaughter”. After all, by the age of 19, they should be ready for marriage! Fashion for large volumes is easily explained by the fact that the larger and “heavier” the bride, the more kalym-ransom her family. Oh, and it’s good for such Moorish women who are proud of every extra fold of their lush body!
Once in Ethiopia, don’t be surprised if you meet a woman with a real plate in her lip. They have such a fashion – the representatives of the weaker sex of the Mursi tribe. To some, this may seem like a real ugliness, but for women of this tribe, this is the norm. The larger the diameter of such a “plate” in the lip, the greater the age of the woman, the more she is revered by her fellow tribesmen. Sometimes the diameter of such a ” fashion chip” can reach 15 cm.!
Nowhere on the border of Sudan and Uganda, a huge number of so-called growths on the body are considered fashionable. Incisions on the body, in which metal hooks are inserted, are periodically sprinkled with ash in order that the wounds from the incisions do not heal as long as possible.
Breasts in the shape of Spaniel ears – a nightmare for all girls of the European race, but for residents of Papua New Guinea – this is a fashion trend, to achieve which all possible and impossible ways are used. The fact is that local men do not favor women with a lush bust shape, so you have to be sophisticated with a variety of tools, just to somehow pull the chest.
In the Sahara desert, there are natives, like the Moorish, who prefer large women. Fashionable and vital is the presence of at least 20 fat folds on the abdomen. There is no such number-no luck, because no one will marry!
As you can see, the canons of beauty in some parts of our green planet are so unusual that they do not fit into any framework of our ideas of beauty. Although, perhaps, there is one advantage for fashionistas of exotic tribes and nationalities – the fashion for what is considered beautiful does not change for centuries…
